Design Dos of 2025

The latest trends in graphic design are constantly changing from one year to the next, as brands try to find ways for their content to stand out. It can seem daunting to try and keep up with what’s new, but don’t worry! IH Concepts has got you covered with a list of the latest graphic design trends of 2025.

1. Visual Data – The Technical Side of Design

Visual data is a combination of data and design, like a chart, graph, or map.  These are great ways to quickly view analytical data and get important information to those that need it.  For example, instead of writing out research results as a paragraph, using a pie graph with the same results conveys the information in a simpler way.

2. Micro Tutor

Have you ever been working on a DIY project and found a video online with step-by-step instructions?  That’s an example of micro tutoring in use.  These tutorial videos can range in a wide variety of topics, but they’re often created by influencers and found on social media. These videos work best when they are easy to follow, even by those unfamiliar with the topic.

3. Mismatched & Bright

While standard designs tend to focus on one font for a layout, mismatched and bright designs mix it up a bit by combining different fonts in different sizes and various colors. These designs are notable by their playful layouts, quirky wordmarks, and unexpected contrasting colors for the fonts. This is a unique approach that challenges the “normal” design styles and allows creativity and imperfection to stand out.

4. Handcrafted & Handmade Designs

It seems like AI and computer generated designs are everywhere right now, and it’s been becoming more common over the last few years.  While that trend is on the rise, there is also an increased interest in “rebelling” against AI with handcrafted and handmade items, which can also lead to designs with a handcrafted appearance. These are designs that take a more traditional art like crafts, sketches, or scrapbooking, and incorporate them into graphic design so the style looks authentic and handmade.

5. Typography & Creative Lettering

This trend takes more of an organic approach and really focuses on typography as the focal point of the design, which means it can be used for a wide variety of purposes. This often has a minimalist approach, with simple designs and bold typography against it. One example of this might be the use of gothic fonts surrounded by badges or crests. Utilizing this type of creative typography delivers a simple look, but it can evoke a sense of sophistication, reliability, and trustworthiness all due to the creative lettering chosen.  For an example of this design trend that gives whimsical or nostalgic vibes, a design might be made that combines retro serifs with a modern layout for a retro futuristic look.  No matter the exact goal of the design for this trend, the creative or custom typography used is always the focal point.

6. Childlike Design

So many things in life are serious, but once in a while it’s okay to have some fun, especially when it comes to designs! That’s why a trending design right now is all about joy, nostalgia, and simplicity.  These “childlike” designs tend to look more handmade and incorporate things like crayon textures, simple colors, and nostalgic vibes.

7. Futurism / Y2K

WGSN and Coloro announced that the 2025 color of the year is the metallic color future dusk, which goes hand in hand with futurism being a continuing trend. This trend tends to blur the lines between reality and fantasy and often includes metallic colors like future dusk, transcendent pink, aquatic awe, sunset coral or ray flower. Colors like these with a metal look make a bold statement in design, push towards continuous innovation, and look ahead to the future.  Pixels are also often incorporated in futurism / Y2K designs since they give designs a digital-yet-old-school vibe that is really popular at the moment. Surprisingly effective for a wide range of industries and brands, designs incorporating pixelation seem to strike the perfect nostalgic nerve so far in 2025.

8. Rewilding

This is another design that focuses on more natural, earthy elements and tones. Rewilding uses natural colors and textures, like leaves and vines, to give the design an organic feel that returns its roots to nature. In our current digital age, designs with muted earth tones and leaf motifs can really stand out in a positive way in contrast to the tech-fueled world we live in.

Final Thoughts

With the latest design trends we’ve seen so far, 2025 is shaping up to be a unique year for design that’s torn on what it wants to be.  There seems to be a definite divide between designs, with some leaning towards nostalgia and natural tones, while others are more future-focused and bright or loud in colors and shape. Whatever tone or style you’re interested in for your designs, one of these latest trends will hopefully inspire you to create.
